Scoping and Structuring and Engagement

Each engagement format has a component of follow-up, and clarification of next steps and accountabilities.

It's usually helpful to frame an engagement provisionally, after initial intake. From there, precise milestones and touch points can be adjusted as a mutually agreeable plan for moving forward takes shape.

It's important for success that the client own the process and outcomes, so we regularly check-in to confirm that the outlined approach continues to feel relevant, alive, and on target.

We generally work to plan and invoice in conjunction with meetings, with invoices not more frequent than monthly.

Billing

Clients will be invoiced at the outset of the engagement for a 4-hour retainer, e.g. $125 x 4 = $500.

As the 4-hour retainer period winds down (See below for Billable Activities), a subsequent invoice for a new 4-hour retainer will be issued—if there is a mutual understanding that there is more work to be done. The client will be prompted with the choice to opt out.

Billable Activities Include:

  • In-person, Skype, and phone meetings

    • Design

    • Facilitation

    • Summaries

  • Knowledge documents from convenings

  • Review of client-supplied materials

  • Client-directed research

  • Email correspondence, if in-depth

  • Travel expenses associated with client meetings and convenings are billed at the standard IRS mileage for the distance to and from the client site from Leverage Point Consulting’s Montpelier office.

  • Additional expenses assessed on a case-by-case basis
